
Men's Basketball Drops Road Contest in Hastings
Men's Basketball traveled to Hastings on Wednesday evening for the 234th meeting with the Broncos. Hastings was able to erase a two-point halftime deficit to defeat the Tigers, 65-53.
The two teams went back and forth through the opening six minutes with neither team leading by more than two points early on. Hastings broke a 10-all tie with a 5-0 run and built a nine-point lead, 24-15, with a 14-5 run in total. The Tigers responded with a 14-0 run to go in front, 29-24. The Broncos hit a 3-point basket to cap the first half scoring, leaving Doane in front, 29-27.
Similarly to the opening half, the two teams exchanged baskets early with four lead changes and two ties. Hastings used a 6-0 run to take a lead they would not give up. The Broncos were able to push the lead to 10 with nine minutes to go. Doane was held without a field goal in the final five minutes as Hastings closed with a 6-1 run during the same stretch.
Brady Timm led all scorers with 15 points while Caleb Hrabik posted nine points off the bench. Cooper Sheldon and Matt Adamek posted five rebounds apiece. Nick Saiz led the team with two steals.
The Tigers return to the home court on Saturday, December 2, as they take on Dordt at 3:45 PM.
A note for fans, multiple events are going on at the Doane campus on Saturday and parking may be sparse in the Haddix parking lot. Additional park in The Den parking lot south of the Haddix lot should be available as well.
