Women's Track and Field Claims Runner-up Honors at NAIA Nationals

Doane Women's Track and Field concluded action on Saturday at the NAIA National Championships held at  the Alachua County Sports and Event Center in Gainesville, Fla., with a runner-up finish. The Tigers matched their best indoor finish as they placed second in 2016 as well. Doane posted 48 team points, finishing 10 points behind champion Cumberlands.

The track is where the Tigers rolled up points on Saturday, with several personal best times accomplished. Danie Parriott broke the school record in the 600m run with a time of 1:32.28 and placed second. The record had stood since 2014. Kat Vogt placed fourth in the 400m dash, running the second-fastest time in program history as she finished in 55.73.

Neryah Hekl placed fourth in the 60m dash, running a time of 7.48. Her time was 0.04 off the school record time she ran in the prelims. The meet was capped with a sixth place finish in the 4x400m relay as the Tigers ran the third-fastest time in program history. Running the relay were Vogt, Chaney Nelson, Kiley Hejtmanek, and Parriott.

Alivia Baucom paced the women in the shot put with a fifth place finish and mark of 14.06m (46-01.50). Madison Sutton placed 12th with a mark of 13.47m (44-02.50) and Madison Heusinkvelt was 15th with a mark of 12.48m (40-11.50).

In the triple jump, Rosalyn Roggasch took 11th with a leap of 11.68m (38-04.00). Josie Garrett finished in 13th place with a mark of 11.64m (38-02.25) and Kyla Davis was 19th with a mark of 11.21m (36-09.50).
