
Mount Marty Snags Opener from Baseball
Baseball hosted Mount Marty on Sunday afternoon in the first home GPAC games of the season. The Lancers broke the game open in the fourth inning as they picked up an 8-2 win over Doane.
Mount Marty scored a run in the third inning only to have Doane answer back with a run in the bottom of the inning. Sam Kwapnioski doubled to drive in Logan Amick to tie the game. The Lancers scored four runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-1 advantage.
Kwapnioski matched his at-bat in the third inning when he doubled and drove in Amick in the fifth inning. Mount Marty picked up two runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh for the final scoring.
Broc Songster started for the Tigers and went 3.0 innings, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two. Cade Bridgest threw 4.0 innings, allowing six runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out three.
Doane was held to three hits in the opener, two doubles from Kwapnioski. Amick added a single and scored two runs.
Game two followed about 25 minutes after the opener.
