Baseball Walks Off Mount Marty to Garner Split
In the final game of their doubleheader, Doane defeated Mount Marty in baseball action on Sunday. The Tigers won in walk-off fashion, 2-1.
Doane struck first with a run in the third inning. Logan Amick singled on a hit-and-run to drive in Carson Baker from first base. The Lancers tied the game in the fifth inning with a two-out single. Mount Marty threatened in the ninth inning but the Tiger defense came up with a big play, turning a double play to end the inning.
In the bottom of the ninth, Johnny Vulcano led off the frame with a double. Justin Nevells was intentionally walked to put two runners on base. Doane's next two batters struck out and the inning appeared over on a ground ball but the throw to second base for a force out could not be handled and the error extended the inning. Amick stepped to the plate and drew a five-pitch walk to win the game for Doane.

Steele gave the Tigers a quality start, going 7.0 innings and allowing one run on five hits and a walk while striking out five batters. Ethan Merk came out of the bullpen and threw 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing three walks as he picked up the win.
Doane finished with eight hits and drew three walks in the game. Amick was 2-for-4 with two RBI and Vulcano was 2-for-4 with a run scored. The Tigers had three doubles in the game.
