Baseball Completes Sweep of Dordt with Shutout

Baseball closed out their doubleheader with Dordt in the early evening on Thursday in Crete. The Tigers used three pitchers to combine for a shutout in a 6-0 victory.

Doane struck in the first inning as Logan Amick scored on a ground ball fielder's choice by Brayden Jones. In the second inning, Amick delivered a sacrifice fly to drive in Max Harris.

The Tigers extended their lead with three runs in the third inning. Jones scored on a throwing error for the first run. Aaron Vulcano put Doane up 4-0 as he scored on a sacrifice fly by Jordan Bond. Harris drove in the third run with an RBI-double to plate Justin Nevells. In the fourth inning, Jones had a sacrifice fly to plate Amick for the final run of the game.

Riley Plummer started for the Tigers and went 5.0 innings, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out seven. Ethan Merk threw 1.0 inning, allowing one hit with two strikeouts. Cade Bridges tossed 1.0 inning, allowing one hit and striking out one. Combined, the Tigers struck out 10 batters.

Doane had nine hits in the game, three from Vulcano. Harris added two hits, both doubles, to go with a run scored and a RBI.

The Tigers return to action on Monday, April 7, at 1 PM when they host Morningside.
