
Football Downed in Final Home Game of Season
Football closed out their home slate on Saturday afternoon in Crete as they hosted Midland. An early miscue for the Tigers gave the Warriors a quick touchdown as Midland posted a 24-0 win.
Doane turnovered over the ball on their first possession as an errant snap back to the punter left Midland eight yards from the endzone. They scored on their second play to take a 7-0 lead. The Warriors' second drive of the game started inside Tiger territory at the 49-yard line. They used seven plays, scoring a touchdown on a one-yard run for a 14-0 lead.
The defense was able to settle in and held Midland to a field goal over the next two quarters of play. In the fourth quarter, the Warriors scored their final touchdown behind a 53-yard pass and a 10-yard run to go 63 yards on two plays.
For the game, the Tiger defense was led by Reece Zutavern with 16 tackles. Jarett Boggs posted 11 tackles with a pass breakup. Tanner Simdorn and Andrew Brown were in on nine tackles apiece. Doane recorded five tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
Offensively, Sam Hartman threw for 69 yards on 12 completions. Andrew Waido posted four receptions for 17 yards while Zack Perez led the team with 27 yards on two catches. Rian Green posted 37 yards rushing on 10 carries.
Doane will close out the season on Saturday, November 16, in Yankton, S.D., as they take on Mount Marty at 1 PM.
