
Quick Start Lifts Men's Basketball to Road Victory
Men's Basketball went on the road on Tuesday evening to Manhattan, Kansas, to take on the Thunder of Manhattan Christian. The Tigers posted an 83-60 victory to complete the sweep in the home-and-home series between the two squads.
Doane jumped out to a 20-3 lead to open the game with Casen Chaney scoring the first seven points. The Thunder went on a 10-2 run to cut the Tiger lead to nine points in a two minute stretch. Chaney started a decisive blow with a layup as Doane went on an 18-0 run to go up 40-13 with 6:50 to play in the half. The Tigers led at the break, 54-28, posting their highest scoring half of the season.
In the second half, Doane's lead never dipped below 22 points. Seven different players scored in the second half, led by Caleb Hrabik with eight points. The Tigers finished the game with 25 points off Thunder turnovers and 40 points in the paint.
Four players finished in double figures in scoring, led by Chaney and Hrabik with 15 points apiece. Chaney notched his first double-double with the Tigers, leading the team with 10 rebounds all on the defensive end of the court. Jack Wilson added 14 points in his hometown return and Glavine McDonald finished with 10 points. McDonald led the team with four assists.
Doane shot 54-percent (29-of-54) from the floor and 37-percent (7-of-19) from behind the arc. The Tigers were 82-percent (18-of-22) at the free throw line. The Thunder shot 35-percent (20-of-58) from the floor and 20-percent (6-of-30) from behind the 3-point line. They converted 82-percent (14-of-17) at the free throw line.
Jaxon Hurla and Landon Gray posted 10 points apiece for Manhattan Christian. Xavier Lucas led the team with six rebounds.
Doane will return to GPAC play on Saturday, November 23, when they travel to Sioux City, Iowa, to take on Morningside at 3:45 PM.
