Men's Basketball Wins in Fremont for First Time Since 2018

Men's Basketball traveled to Fremont on Wednesday evening to take on Midland and walked away a victory for the first time since January 2018. The Tigers shot 45-percent from the floor to post a 72-65 win.

Through the opening eight minutes, Midland led 8-7 as there were two ties and two lead changes. Jack Wilson scored the next five points of the game for Doane with a layup and a 3-point basket and the Tigers never looked back as they led the final 31:40 of game time. Doane was able to push their lead to nine points going into the final two minutes of the first half, only to have Midland trim the lead to four points. Doane scored the final point of the half on a free throw and led 31-26 at the break.

The Tigers maintained their lead as the teams exchanged baskets through the opening five minutes of the second half. Leading 39-34, Doane went on a 7-0 run as Glavine McDonald scored five of the points in the run. Midland pulled back within five points with a 7-0 run of their own and eventually trimmed the lead to two points, 53-51, with 8:53 to play.

Doane countered with a 9-3 run to push their lead back to eight points. The closest Midland would get is five points with 20 seconds to play. However, Doane was 6-of-6 at the free throw line in the final 35 seconds of play to secure the win.

Brady Timm finished the game with 20 points and nine assists. He added five rebounds and three steals. Caleb Hrabik posted 14 points and seven rebounds. Casen Chaney chipped in with 12 points, three assists, and a team-high six steals. McDonald and Wilson finished with 10 points apiece with McDonald pulling down a team-high eight rebounds.

Midland received 21 points from Jeff Rozelle III, going 9-of-11 from the floor with three 3-point baskets. He added a game-high 12 rebounds for the double-double. Trey McCain added 18 points for the Warriors.

Doane will travel to Orange City, Iowa, for their next outing as they take on (7) Northwestern. Tip is set for 3:45 PM on Saturday, December 14.
