Hot Shooting Eagles Down Men's Basketball in Arizona

Men's Basketball closed out their Arizona swing on Friday afternoon as they took on Embry-Riddle. The Eagles hit a season-high 16 3-point baskets to post an 89-71 win over the Tigers.

The game started with the teams exchanging the lead four times after Doane scored the first points of the game. Caleb Hrabik put the Tigers in front to start the game which was followed by the teams trading four consecutive 3-point baskets. With the Tigers leading 11-10 through six minutes of play, the Eagles went on a 10-0 run. Embry-Riddle pushed their lead to 14 points with five minutes left in the opening half. Doane was able to counter with a 7-0 run to cut the lead in half, 36-29, with 2:42 left on the clock. The Eagles closed the half on a 12-4 run, hitting four 3-point baskets, as they led 48-33 at the break.

The second half began with Embry-Riddle scoring the first seven points. The Eagles extended their lead to 25 points, 69-44, before Doane went on a 10-0 run with ten minutes to play. Brady Timm scored six points and Jack Wilson accounted for the other four points in the run. The Tigers were able to trim the lead to 14 points with 3:11 to play before a foul was called on Doane after a missed shot. The team was then tagged with three technical fouls and Embry-Riddle made all eight free throws to push the lead back to 22, 88-66.

Wilson led the Tigers with 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting. Timm finished with 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting while adding team-highs with seven rebounds and six assists. Glavine McDonald chipped in with 10 points. Crayton Macholan led the team with three steals.

Noah Gifft led the Eagles with 26 points, knocking down eight 3-point baskets. Peter Dress finished with 14 points and Christian Wells notched 12 points. Isaiah Wong finished with 10 points, all at the free throw line, to go with eight assists.

Doane will be off until 2025 when they return to the court on January 2 to take on No. 11 Dordt in Sioux Center, Iowa. Tip-off is set for 6:45 PM at DeWitt Gymnasium.
