Men's Soccer picked up a monumental win on Saturday as they defeated Dakota Wesleyan, 3-1. The victory was the 200th in program history and is an important victory in the chase for a postseason berth.
The scoring started early for Doane as Jesus Maganda scored in the 3' of action after Ameer Madden drew two defenders and touched the ball back to set up the shot attempt. DWU came back in the 15' to score as Luis Waeschle scored by picking up a loose ball at the top of the goal box. Brody Mueller put Doane back in front in the 16' as he received a pass into the goal box, changed directions and fired a shot for a goal. In the 27', Cesar Gonzalez received a center pass from Guillem Colom and headed the ball past the keeper for a goal.
The second half was scoreless with DWU out-shooting the Tigers, 7-5, in the half. Shots on-goal were 4-2. Curtis Oberg made his first career start and posted 11 saves in net for Doane.
Next up for the Tigers will be a match-up with Hastings on October 11 at 5 PM in Crete.
