Men's Soccer closed out their season on Saturday evening as they took on Northwestern. The Tigers needed a win to extend their season but came up just shy, falling to the Red Raiders, 3-2.
Doane controlled the action early on with four of their five shot attempts being placed on-goal. However, the Tigers were unable to get a shot past the Northwestern goalkeeper during their flurry of attempts in the first 15 minutes of action. The Red Raiders had their first shot attempt in the 16' and would break through with a goal in the 30' from Tim Kaltenberger.
The Red Raiders had a chance to extend the lead in the 35' but missed a penalty kick attempt. Kaltenberger pushed the Northwestern lead to 2-0 before the break with a goal in the 43' of action.
In the 59', Gerrard Uamai gave NWC a 3-0 lead. Doane was finally able to break through in the 80' as Zane Boudreau fed a pass to Cesar Gonzalez, who fired a shot on the goalkeeper. The ball deflected off the keeper and was knocked in by a Red Raider defender for an own goal.
A long pass ahead past the Red Raider backline by Jesus Maganda allowed Guillem Colom to score in the 85' to pull Doane within a goal. It was Colom's eighth goal of the season and gave him a point scored in five of the last six games. The Tigers were able to place one more shot on-goal in the final five minutes but could not find the equalizer.
The Tigers finished the season with a 3-7-7 record, going 1-5-5 in GPAC play.
