Men's Soccer Shuts Out York for Second Win

Men's Soccer closed out action for the month of August on Wednesday evening as they hosted York in a late night affair. When the final seconds ticked off the clock around 11:30 PM, the Tigers had secured their second victory of the season, 2-0. Doane is 2-1-1 on the year after dropping their season opener.

Doane held a 6-4 shots on goal advantage for the game. In the first half, Doane was able to score in the 7' of play as Ameer Madden centered a pass to the back post for Fernando Moreno. With a header, Moreno sent the ball down and past the Panther goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Doane picked up their final goal in the 79' of play. Madden took a shot on a breakaway that was saved but rolled to the middle of the field where Braden Lackey picked up the loose ball and fired a shot into the goal for a two-score advantage.

The goals were the first of the season for both Moreno and Lackey while Madden collected two assists to run his total to three on the year. Samuel Montanez recorded four saves in net for the Tigers.

Doane is back in action on September 7 at Lamoni, Iowa, to take on Graceland. The game is set for a 5 PM start.
