Men's Soccer traveled to Lamoni, Iowa, on Saturday to take on Graceland. The Yellowjackets controlled the pace of play in collecting a 2-0 win. Graceland out-shot the Tigers on the day, 18-2.
Samuel Montanez posted six saves in the opening half as the two teams were scoreless after 45 minutes. The Yellowjackets held a 6-2 shot advantage in the half.
In the 60' of the contest, Graceland had a corner kick sent in towards the goal. The Tigers were unable to clear the ball and Lucas Porter scored on a crossing pass from David Hopfer.
Doane committed a foul in the goal box in the 68' to set up a penalty kick attempt for Porter. Montanez made the save on the shot attempt and followed with a second save moments later off a followup shot attempt. The final goal of the game came in the 90' as Manuel Zambrano scored with 11 seconds remaining in the contest.
Montanez finished with 15 saves in goal for the Tigers, tied for fourth-most in a game in program history.
Doane will be back at home on Saturday, September 14, as they host Jamestown at noon.
