
Men's Tennis Wins Opening Dual Over NWU
Men's Tennis opened their dual season on Tuesday with a home match against Nebraska Wesleyan. The old rivalry came down to the final matches with the Tigers posting a 4-3 win.
The Prairie Wolves won the doubles point by winning the 1-doubles match, 6-3, and 3-double, 7-6 (7-4). Doane took the 2-doubles match, 7-6 (7-5), with Andre Hartman and Elliot Dassel the victors.
In singles play, the Tigers were able to get on the board as Jose Purizaca won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, at 1-singles. A pair of tie-breaker wins by Hartman and Dassel put the Tigers up 3-2 with two matches remaining. Hartman won 6-7 (5-7), 6-0, 1-0 (10-1) at 3-singles and Dassel won 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8) at 4-singles.
The Tigers clinched the match with a win at 5-singles as Julio Avila picked up the win, 6-3, 6-4. The final match at 6-singles also came down to a tie-break with Christian Jensen edged out in the final set, 3-6, 6-2, 0-1 (7-10).
Next up for men's tennis is the ITA Tournament in Salina, Kansas. Qualifiers for the tournament were not announced at the time of this release.
