Harms Wins Happy Holiday Heptathlon for Men's Track and Field

Track and Field opened the indoor season on Saturday and Sunday in Crete by hosting the annual Happy Holidays Combined Events competition with Central Missouri and Central (Iowa).

Six competitors finished the seven-event competition for the men's heptathlon. Andrew Harms posted the best score with 4,497 points. He posted the best mark in the long jump with a leap of 6.55m (21-06.00), the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.75, and the 1000m run with a time of 2:57.52.

Mason Zimmerman finished with a score of 4,187 to place second overall. His top three event finishes came in the shot put, hurdles, and pole vault as he placed second in both. In the shot put he had a throw of 10.81m (35-05.75), in hurdles he ran a time of 9.18, and in the pole vault he cleared 3.60m (11-09.75).

Devin Jepson placed third with 4,116 points. Jepson matched Zimmerman in the shot put with the second-best mark in the shot put with a throw of 10.81m (35-05.75). He also tied for the second-best mark in the long jump with a mark of 6.33m (20-09.25).

 

Several members of the program will get their first action of the season next weekend in Seward as the Tigers travel to compete in the Bulldog Early Bird Invite.
