Four National Qualifying Marks Hit by Men's Track and Field

Men's Track and Field competed at the Concordia Early Bird on Saturday in Seward. Tiger athletes posted four NAIA automatic national qualifying marks and one provisional qualifying mark.

On the track, Zach Turner punched his ticket for the NAIA National Championships with a meet record time of 8.02 in the 60m hurdles. It marked the third straight year he won the 60m hurdles at the meet and the 10th straight victory in the event in meets held at the Bulldog Fieldhouse.

Connor Bradley was the team's top finisher in the 60m dash with a time of 7.16 to finish 11th. He also led the way in the 200m dash with a seventh place finish and time of 23.20. Dakota Miser placed sixth in the 400m with a time of 52.56.

Logan Menke finished second in the 600m run with a time of 1:26.64. Eli Marez took third in the 800m with a time of 2:03.16. Gabe Jenny placed 13th in the 1000m run with a time of 2:52.51.

Thomas Oliver won the mile run with a time of 4:27.77. He also posted the top Tiger time in the 3000m run with a time of 9:01.53.

In the field events, two Tigers earned NAIA automatic qualifying marks in the high jump. Carter Reckling placed second with a height of 2.05m (6-08.75). Dylan Starr also cleared 2.05m to place third based on attempts.

Trey Dickey took second in the weight throw with a mark of 17.47m (57-03.75) to automatically qualify for the national meet. In the pole vault, Mike Pulliam reached the provisional standard with a clearance of 4.65m (15-03.00).

Luke Davis led the Tigers in the long jump with a mark of 6.91m (22-08.00) and placed sixth. Sam Boldt took second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.72m (45-00.25). Cale Bessler placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 14.48m (47-06.25).

Doane will return to action on January 6, 2024, when they host the Ward Haylett Invite.
