
Turner Breaks Two School Records in Lincoln for Men's Track and Field
Men's Track and Field sent a couple of athletes to the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite on Friday and Saturday in Lincoln. School records and season-best marks were toppled by the Tigers.
Zach Turner had himself a weekend, breaking two school records and anchoring a national qualifying relay team as well. Turner started the action on Friday by breaking his school record in the 60m hurdles as he ran a time of 7.75 in the prelims. He would win the finals on Saturday with a time of 7.82. Andrew Brown took fifth with a time of 8.15.
Turner had 30-45 minutes between the hurdles race and the open 400m dash. Turner won his heat with a school record time of 47.49. He finished third overall. Joaquin Gutierrez finished 10th with a time of 49.33.
On Saturday, the 4x400m relay team of Gutierrez, Caleb Mulder, Brown, and Turner raced to a fourth place finish and a time of 3:14.62, the sixth fastest time in program history and a national qualifying time.
Kyler Nichols placed eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.35m (43-09.75).
Doane will compete at the GPAC Championships on February 14-15 in Mitchell, S.D.
