
Men's Track and Field Tops NWU; 19th Win in 20 Meetings
Men's Track and Field took on Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday and Saturday in the annual dual. This year marked the 20th meeting since the current series started in 2004. The Tigers defeated the Prairie Wolves, 118-70, to pick up their 19th win. Scoring is awarded to the top two finishers on each team per event with a point system of 5-3-2-1.
JaDae Moore won the 100m dash in a time of 10.84, claiming the title by 0.01. Devon Jackson took third in a time of 10.98. Andrew Brown won the 200m in a time of 21.74 and Moore finished third with a time of 22.17. Joaquin Gutierrez won the 400m in a time of 48.07 while Caleb Mulder finished third with a time of 49.66.
In the 800m, Emmanuel Yego took second with a time of 1:56.44 and Nate O'Brien was fifth with a time of 1:57.39. Michael Grigsby won the 1500m in a time of 3:57.25 and Jayden Wall took second with a mark of 4:04.66. Nelson Ruto won the 5000m in a time of 15:01.65 and Porter Bickley was second in a time of 15:19.99.
Zach Turner won the 110m hurdles with the fastest time in the NAIA, posting a mark of 13.78. Brown was second with an NAIA provisional qualifying time of 14.34. In the 400m hurdles, Zach Fox took second with a time of 54.99 and Carter Niles was sixth with a time of 1:00.01.
In the 4x100m relay, Jackson, Moore, Daniel Conception, and Dalton Whisenhunt combined for a time of 42.14 to pick up the win. In the 4x400m relay, the squad of Gutierrez, Mulder, Brown, and Turner ran an NAIA automatic qualifying time of 3:12.58 to win the race.
In the field events, Dylan Starr cleared 2.11m (6-11.00) to win the high jump with Peyton Herrick taking third with a mark of 2.01m (6-07.00). Drew Garrison won the pole vault with a mark of 4.20m (13-09.25) and Andrew Harms was fourth with a mark of 4.05m (13-03.50).
Brian Cech won the long jump with a leap of 7.16m (23-06.00) and Michael Willey took second with a mark of 6.82m (22-04.50). Kyler Nichols won the triple jump with a mark of 13.96m (45-09.75). Callan McKinney took second with a mark of 13.47m (44-02.50).
Andrew Schmitz took second in the shot put with a throw of 15.57m (51-01.00). Tad Dimmitt took fifth with a mark of 14.81m (48-07.25). In the discus, Christopher Brown won with a throw of 51.53m (169-01) and Trey Dickey was second with a toss of 49.73m (163-02).
Dickey won the hammer throw with a mark of 56.87m (186-07) and Schmitz was second with a throw of 56.36m (184-11). Both marks meet the NAIA provisional qualifying standard. Mason Crumbliss won the javelin with a throw of 55.82m (183-02) and Cale Suckstorf placed fourth with a throw of 43.98m (144-03).
Doane will host the John Green Combined Events on April 16-17 and the Jim Dutcher Memorial Classic on April 17-18.
