Doane Men's Wrestling will be represented in the NAIA National Championship finals on Saturday evening in Park City, Kansas. Red-shirt junior Tyson Beauperthuy punched a ticket to the finals with a pair of wins on Friday. He is the third Doane wrestler to qualify for the finals, joining Cody Linton and Baagii Boldmaa.

In the quarterfinals, Beauperthuy defeated No. 11 Jameel Coles of Grand View (Iowa) by sudden victory (overtime), 4-1. Last year, Coles ended Beauperthuy's season in an identical situation, sudden victory 4-1 final.

In the semifinals, he faced No. 7 Sawyer Hobbs of Providence (Mont.). Hobbs recorded a takedown late in the opening period only to have Beauperthuy earn a reversal and four near-fall points to take a 6-3 lead after three minutes. Beaupethuy added a reversal in the second period for an 8-3 lead heading into the final period. He started the third period with an escape, followed by a takedown and four near-fall points. Hobbs picked up an escape while Beauperthuy tacked on a point for riding time in a 17-4 victory.

In the finals on Saturday evening, Beauperthuy will face JD Perez of Life (Ga.). Perez is the No. 1 overall seed while Beauperthuy is the No. 3 seed. Perez took third place at the 2024 national tournament when he attended Ottawa (Kan.). The two wrestlers met in November 2023 with Perez picking up the win when he was the No. 1 ranked wrestler to open the 2023-24 season. Perez took sixth in 2023 and fifth in 2022. Beauperthuy earned runner-up honors in 2021 when he was at Midland (Neb.)
