Softball traveled to Omaha on Tuesday afternoon to face College of Saint Mary in GPAC play. The Tigers opened the day with a 10-1 victory in six innings and closed out the day with a 12-8 victory to pick up a sweep over the Flames.
Doane collected 13 hits in the opener which led to the team's 10 runs. Lexi Alaniz-Diaz went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI out of the leadoff spot. Katelyn Hays and Anna Prauner each went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the heart of the order. Jaiden Papik was 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Jadyn Hunt was 1-for-1 with two RBI. Jeryn Allen, Marisa Marquez, and Isabella Beauchamp each added a RBI in the game.
Sarah Shevenell earned the win, going 6.0 innings and scattering six hits and a walk while striking out six in the game.
In the second game, the Tigers posted 16 hits and drew one walk towards plating 12 runs. Britney Hoffman hit her first career home run in the first inning as she went 2-for-3 with a run scored and four RBI in the game. Marquez was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Hays and Prauner were both 2-for-3 in the game, with Hays driving in a run. Beauchamp and Hunt posted two hits while driving in one run apiece. Alexis Hubbard had an RBI-pinch hit single and Abbie Willett had a two-run, pinch hit double. For Willett, it was her first career hit and RBI.
In the pitching circle, Faith Molina picked up the win as she allowed eight runs, seven earned, on 12 hits and four walks while striking out three. Abbi Arroyo closed out the game, throwing 1.0 innings, allowing one hit.
Next up for the Tigers will be a home doubleheader on Friday, April 12, when No. 11 Northwestern comes to Crete. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
