No. 11 Northwestern Sweeps Softball in Crete

Softball hosted No. 11 Northwestern on Friday afternoon. The Red Raiders posted a pair of wins over the Tigers, 6-1 and 8-1.

In game one, Marisa Marquez was 2-for-3 for the Tigers. Katelyn Hays drove in the team's lone run with a solo home run over the left field scoreboard. Grace Dowding added a double as Doane finished with four hits in the game.

Abbi Arroyo threw 5.0 innings for the Tigers, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk while striking out four. Faith Molina allowed two unearned runs on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

In game two, Doane's lone run came on a sacrifice fly by Isabella Beauchamp in the second inning. The Tigers were limited to two hits in the game, singles from Lexi Alaniz-Diaz and Anna Prauner.

Molina started and threw 3.0 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one. Sarah Shevenell threw 4.0 innings, allowing five runs (one earned) on two hits and six walks while striking out four.

The Tigers will have a short rest as they turn around to play Dordt on Saturday at 1 PM in Crete.
