Bio

Renae Littrell returned to Doane as Head Softball Coach in June 2023. She previously coached the Tigers from 2013-17.  In her tenure as coach, she led the Tigers to the program’s only conference title in 2015 and a pair of NAIA Opening Round Tournament appearances (2015, 2016).

Overall for the Tigers, Littrell has a 155-118 overall record and a 74-49 mark in conference play. In 2015, the team won their first conference title with a 17-3 record and qualified for their first NAIA National Tournament appearance with an Opening Round trip to Oklahoma City. In 2016, the team finished second in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and earned a bid to the national tournament, once again traveling to Oklahoma. Her players have earned 37 all-conference honors, 18 NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors, and the team has earned NAIA Scholar Team honors on five occasions.

Between tenures at Doane, Littrell remained in higher education having served as the Director of Retention and Student Success at Waldorf University (Iowa) from 2017-20. She had also served as an adjunct professor at Waldorf, both in-person and remotely. In 2022, she was a professor at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

Prior to arriving at Doane in August 2012, Littrell’s coaching career was highlighted by collegiate stops as an assistant, first with Butler County Community College and then with Hutchinson Community College, both in Kansas. There, she gained valuable experience recruiting players from the United States, Canada and in Europe. She was coaching at Earl Warren High School in San Antonio at the time she accepted the Doane position.

Renae and her husband, Josh, have three boys: Cooper, Max, and DJ.
