Women's Basketball Upset by Lancers on the Road

Women's Basketball ran into a very determined Mount Marty squad on Wednesday evening in Yankton, S.D. The Lancers posted one of their best offensive outings of the season as they upset the Tigers, 85-70.

Mount Marty shot 47.5-percent from the floor, their second-best percentage of the season, while knocking down 10 3-point baskets which was one shy of their season-best mark. Doane was held to 37.5-percent from the floor and also struggled at the free throw line, hitting 58-percent of their 24 attempts.

Mak Hatcliff bounced back after a couple of tough outings, posting 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting, knocking down four 3-point baskets. She added four steals to run her career total to 285, fourth-most in program history. Maddie Portwine posted 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Macy Holtz added 11 points in the game. Portwine and Holtz led the team with three assists apiece.

The Lancers had six players in double-figures, led by Kaela Martinez with 19 points. Alexus Motley added a double-double, 14 points and 16 rebounds. Sidney Thue had 14 points while Leah Williams posted 13 points. Alexis Folkers and Emma Jarovski tossed in 10 points apiece.

Doane returns home on Saturday, February 1, as they take on (RV) Northwestern at 2 PM.
