Bio

Coach Ryan Baumgartner took over as the Tigers' Head Coach in November 2019 on an interim basis until January 2020 when the interim tag was removed.

During his tenure, he has had to build from the bottom and moved the program upward. From two wins in his first season to 16 wins in his fifth season. Through the 2023-24 season, he has coached 12 All-GPAC players, including the GPAC Freshman of the Year (2021-22) and GPAC Player of the Year (2023-24) in Mak Hatcliff. The team has also excelled in the classroom, earning NAIA Scholar-Team honors in each season, while posting the top grade point average (3.66) in the Doane Athletic Department during the 2021-22 academic year. The Tigers have had 31 NAIA Scholar-Athletes as well during his tenure.

Prior to taking over the women's program, he had served on the men's basketball coaching staff from August 2017 to November 2019. A Doane graduate and men's basketball alum, Baumgartner also earned a master's degree from Doane while serving as a graduate assistant for the men's (1 year) and women's (2 years) basketball teams.

He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's in business management. Ryan, and his wife Deidre, reside in Crete.
