Women's Tennis Tops Saint Mary in GPAC Action

Women's Tennis went on the road on Monday to Omaha to take on Saint Mary. The Tigers picked up a 6-1 victory over the Flames as the match was moved indoors due to temperatures and windy conditions. The victory is the 10th of the season for Doane.

In doubles, the Tigers swept to take an early 1-0 lead. Maria Purizaca and Mariana Espinosa won 6-0 at No. 1 while Liz Calderon and Grace Schroller won at No. 2, 6-2. The Flames forfeited the No. 3 doubles match.

Purizaca won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Espinosa won 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5) at No. 2 singles. Calderon took her match at No. 3, 6-0, 6-2, and Kat Johnson won at No. 5, 6-2, 6-1. Grace Schroller received a forfeit win at No. 6 singles to account for the Tiger victories.

Next up for the Tigers will be a home match against Northwestern on Saturday, April 12, at 12 PM. Senior Day activities will take place prior to the match.
