
Women's Track and Field Season Starts with Pentathlon
Women's Track and Field started the season with the annual Happy Holidays Multi-Events on Sunday with the pentathlon. The Tigers had six competitors in the event that also featured NCAA D2 Central Missouri and NCAA D3 Central (Iowa).
Pacing the Tigers was Josie Garrett as she took second place with 3,155 points, a personal best. Garrett started strong with the fastest time in the 60m hurdles (8.93). In the high jump, she posted a NAIA "B" standard mark of 1.65m (5-05.00). In the shot put, she had a personal best mark of 8.96m (29-04.75). Garrett had the top mark in the long jump with a distance of 5.50m (18-00.50). She closed the day with a personal best time in the 800m, running a time of 3:10.63.
Chaney Nelson posted a personal best 3,043 points to place third. In the 60m hurdles, she ran a time of 9.51, personal best. She recorded a height of 1.53m (5-00.25) in the high jump, also a personal best. Nelson continued the run with a personal best in the shot put with a mark of 8.67m (28-05.50). She closed out the meet with a mark of 4.76m (15-07.50) in the long jump and a time of 2:33.93 for the fastest time in the 800m.
Rosalyn Roggasch competed in her second career multi-event competition and posted a personal best 2,922 points to place fifth. She recorded personal best marks in the first three events like Nelson did. In the 60m hurdles, Roggasch ran a time of 9.45. She had a height of 1.56m (5-01.25) in the high jump and a throw of 7.76m (25-05.50) in the shot put. In the long jump, Roggasch leaped to a mark of 5.16m (16-11.25) and capped the meet with a time of 2:53.45 in the 800m.
Britta Deden also had a personal best score with 2,518 points, placing seventh. She recorded personal best marks in four of the events, starting with the 60m hurdles and a time of 10.37. She cleared 1.41m (4-07.50) in the high jump. Her final three marks were personal bests as well. She hit a throw of 8.64m (28-04.25) in the shot put, a jump of 4.72m (15-06.00) in the long jump, and was clocked in 2:53.75 in the 800m.
Competing in their first pentathlon were Dayle Haake and Lauren Maly. Haake posted a time of 10.48 in the 60m hurdles followed by a height of 1.38m (4-06.25) in the high jump. She had a throw of 9.93m (32-07.00) in the shot put. In the long jump, Haake leaped 4.60m (15-01.25) and she ended the day with a time of 3:00.73 in the 800m. She posted 2,453 points to place eighth.
Maly finished with 2,378 points and finished ninth. She kicked off the meet as the first Tiger to step on the track for the 60m hurdles and ran a time of 10.35 to win her heat. In the high jump, she cleared 1.47m (4-09.75) and followed with a throw of 8.21m (26-11.25) in the shot put. Maly posted a mark of 4.55m (14-11.25) in the long jump and a time of 3:08.79 in the 800m.
The next meet for the Tigers is the Bulldog Early Bird on Saturday, December 14. Track as well as field events are scheduled to start at noon.
