Home Win-Streak Snapped for Volleyball in Rivalry Match

Volleyball hosted Hastings on Wednesday evening in Crete. The Broncos were able to pick up a straight set victory over the Tigers despite a hot Doane start. Game scores were 25-21, 25-17, and 25-20.

Doane jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the opening set but a 5-0 run by the Broncos closed the gap and the momentum stayed with Hastings. Neither team hit particularly well in the opening set, Hastings a .103 attack percentage and Doane at .064. The Broncos saw an improvement the next two sets, hitting .289 and .277 respectively to finish the match at .213. Doane hit .121 and .125 the final two sets, finishing at .100 for the match.

Natalie Wood led the Tigers with seven kills while Kayden Schumacher, Taylor Sluka, and Kate Roseland finished with six apiece. Camdyn Carpenter dished out 25 assists in the match. Chloe Rose collected the team's lone ace serve, as the Tigers out-served the Broncos on the night. Doane placed 95-percent of their service attempts in play while the Broncos finished at 86-percent.

Defensively, both teams finished with 6.0 total blocks. Doane was led by Roseland with five assist blocks and Carpenter finished with three assist blocks. The Tigers collected 61 digs, led by Grace Zeier with 13 and Lillian Parolek with 11.

Doane will be home again on Saturday, October 26, when they host Midland at 3:00 PM. It will be the team's Pink Out game.
