Volleyball Comes Up Short in Five-Set Thriller

Volleyball was on the road on Saturday afternoon in Omaha as they took on Saint Mary. The Tigers put forth a valiant effort but came up just shy in a five-set decision that went to the Flames. Game scores were 19-25, 25-23, 25-12, 31-33, and 15-11.

Doane extended the match to a fifth set by fighting off six match points for CSM. Kate Roseland picked up three kills to keep the match going while Taylor Sluka had one kill to extend the match and a kill to set up set point for the Tigers.

Natalie Wood led the Tigers with 17 kills with Kayden Schumacher adding 14 kills. Roseland added nine and Sluka finished with eight. Camdyn Carpenter dished out 47 assists in the match. Mariah Sliva posted a career-high five ace serves.

Defensively, Carpenter led the Tigers with 14 digs. Mackenzie Painter and Grace Zeier added nine digs apiece. Doane posted 13.0 team blocks. Hilary Hupp had eight total blocks, including one solo. Sluka was in on four total blocks, with one solo block.

The Tigers will close out their season on Tuesday, November 5, with Senior Day against Mount Marty. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
