
Volleyball Closes Season with Five-Set Victory
Volleyball closed out the season on Tuesday evening with a home contest against Mount Marty. The two squads went the distance, playing five sets, with Doane picking up a 3-2 victory over the Lancers. Game scores were 16-25, 25-19, 25-18, 21-25, and 15-10.
In the decisive set, the Tigers trailed Mount Marty, 8-5, when the teams switched sides of the court. The Lancers committed five consecutive attack errors to put Doane in front 10-8. Taylor Sluka picked up a kill to set up match point. The Lancers nearly extended the match with a tip of the Tiger block only to have Camdyn Carpenter come racing in for the dig and flipping the ball back over the net and down to the floor for a kill and a Doane victory.
For the match, Kayden Schumacher posted a career-high 22 kills while hitting .415 in the match. Natalie Wood finished with 12 kills and Taylor Sluka added 10 kills. Hilary Hupp finished with seven kills and a .400 attack percentage. Carpenter dished out 46 assists in the match. Doane had four ace serves from four different players.
Three players finished in double-digits for digs. Grace Zeier posted 20 digs while Carpenter picked up 15 and Mackenzie Painter notched 10. Doane had 8.0 team blocks in the match, led by Hupp and Kate Roseland with four total blocks apiece. Hupp had two solo blocks in the match.
Doane closes out the season with a 9-20 overall record and 4-12 mark in the GPAC, tying for 10th overall.
