Green Scores in Football Loss at Midland

Football traveled to Fremont on Saturday to take on Midland. The Tigers were able to take the lead into halftime but the Warriors were able to score 21 points over the final 20 minutes to pick up a 27-10 win over Doane.

Rian Green put the Tigers on the board first behind a 28-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter. Midland scored on a 31-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter but missed the two-point conversion attempt, leaving Doane in front 7-6.

The Tigers added a field goal in the third quarter to extend their lead to 10-6. A pair of rushing touchdowns by Tyson Denkert put Midland in front and the Warriors added a touchdown pass late for the final score.

Rook Williams threw for 184 yards on 13-of-28 passing. John DeRiso had three receptions for 94 yards, all coming in the first half. Jeremiah Payne had a team-high four receptions. Green finished with 64 yards on 12 carries.

Defensively, Jarett Boggs led the Tigers with nine total tackles. Ty Martinsen and Tanner Simdorn finished with seven tackles apiece. Owen McDonald and Briggs Songster were in on five tackles apiece.

Doane returns home for a contest on Saturday, October 28, as they play host to Mount Marty at 1 PM.
