No. 17 Mustangs Pull Away from Men's Basketball

Men's Basketball played at No. 17 Morningside on Sunday, a day later than originally scheduled due to weather conditions. The Tigers held the lead at the half but the Mustangs were red-hot in the second half as they pulled away for a 99-75 win.

Doane never trailed in the opening half, leading by as many as eight points. They led 49-46 at the break. Both teams made 17 field goals, shooting over 50-percent in the half. The Tiger lead came from seven 3-point baskets while the Mustangs had four in the first 20 minutes.

In the second half, Morningside was 24-of-34 from the floor (71-percent) while Doane was 10-of-30 (33-percent). The Mustangs had an 11-0 run and a 10-0 run in the second half to pull away. They outscored the Tigers with points in the paint, 60-28.

Brady Timm led the Tigers with 25 points, hitting four 3-point baskets. Cam Binder added 15 points, also hitting on four 3-point attempts. River Johnston finished with 12 points. Cooper Sheldon had a team-high five rebounds. Five different players had two assists apiece. Binder was joined by Guy Moran with a team-high two steals apiece.

Next up for the Tigers will be No. 13 Northwestern on Saturday, January 20. Tipoff is set for 3:45 PM in Crete.
