
Men's Basketball Drops Low-Scoring Game with Waldorf
Men's Basketball hosted Waldorf on Saturday afternoon in Crete. The two teams struggled to get going in the first half but were able to heat up in the second half as the Warriors posted a road win, 56-49.
Scoring was at a premium in the first half, as Waldorf jumped out to a 16-3 lead through eight minutes of play. Doane out-scored the Warriors, 12-8, in the last 12 minutes as Waldorf led 24-15 at the break.
Doane trailed by 11 points, 32-21, with 14:28 to play in the game. The Tigers responded with a 17-8 run to pull within two points, 40-38, with 9:12 to go. Unfortunately for Doane, the Warriors were able to go on a 10-2 run to extend their lead back to 10 points with five minutes remaining. The Tigers were able to cut the lead back to five points but were unable to get any closer.
For the game, Doane shot 28-percent from the floor (14-of-50) and from 3-point range (7-of-25). The Tigers were 14-of-17 at the free throw line for 82-percent.
Brady Timm led the team with 13 points with Caleb Hrabik and Casen Chaney adding 11 points apiece. Timm, Hrabik, and Glavine McDonald tied for team-high honors with six rebounds. Hrabik also led the team with three assists and four steals.
Waldorf received 21 points from Noah Miller as he hit six 3-point baskets. Khalil Grayson added 17 points with Ugo Ejiofor adding 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
Doane will hit the road as they travel to Fremont on Wednesday, December 11, to take on Midland at 7:45 PM.
