Men's Soccer Picks Up First Win of the Season

Men's Soccer hosted the first home athletic event of the 2024-25 academic year on Wednesday and put forth a strong effort as they posted a 2-1 win over McPherson. Doane improved to 1-1 on the young season while the game was the season opener for the Bulldogs.

Doane scored their first goal of the season in the 14'. A centering pass towards the goal was deflected away, however, the ball went right to Johan Quintero and he fired a shot past the Bulldog goalkeeper. It was Quintero's first goal as a Tiger.

In the 28', Ameer Madden dropped off a pass in the goal box to Guillem Colom for the second goal of the game. It was Colom's ninth career goal as a Tiger after leading the squad last year in goals scored.

McPherson picked up a goal in the 55' as Abdul Kanu scored on a header off a corner kick. Samuel Montanez was able to prevent any further scoring as he picked up eight saves in the game.

Next up for the Tigers is a road trip to Leavenworth, Kansas, to take on Saint Mary. The game is currently scheduled for Saturday, August 24, at 3:30 PM, however, the heat forecasted may force a change to the start time.
