Women's Soccer Edged Down in Kansas

Women's Soccer (1-2) moved their game with Saint Mary (Kan.) to Friday evening to beat the heatwave scheduled to hit the midwest on Saturday afternoon. After a scoreless first half, three goals were scored in the second half with the host Spires collecting a 2-1 win.

In the second half, Tessa Lucas scored in the 59' and Nanako Hallier scored in the 61' for the Spires as they took a 2-0 lead. On a free kick, Savannah Franzoy cut the lead in half for the Tigers with a goal at the back post in the 78'. The Tigers were limited to one shot on goal in the final 10 minutes.

Grayce Southern posted one save in 90 minutes for the Tigers. Her counterpart, Marisol Vargas, was credited with eight saves.

Doane will return to action with their first home match of the season on Wednesday, August 28, at 6:30 PM.
