Franzoy Strikes with Hat-Trick as Women's Soccer Rolls to Victory

Women's Soccer was able to get back in the win column on Saturday evening with an impressive 5-0 victory over McPherson. The Tigers struck with four goals in the first half as they cruised to the victory.

In the 8' of action, Mackenzy Gipson passed a ball through the goal box and found Hayle Brodine for the first goal of the game. In the 24', Brodine took a corner kick and connected with Emma Jenkins who battled in the goal box to get the ball across the goal line.

Doane added to their lead in the 28' as Savannah Franzoy picked up a loose ball in the goal box and scored. Sarah Kennedy-Croft sent a pass ahead to Franzoy in the 36' and she was able to fire the ball off the goalkeeper and into the goal.

In the second half, the Tigers picked up their final goal of the game in the 80' as McKenna Rathbun sent a pass ahead that the McPherson goalkeeper was unable to chase down and Franzoy collected the ball and fired it into the goal for her third of the game. Doane finished the game with an 18-3 shots advantage, including 15-1 in the first half.

Virginia Johnson recorded two saves in 45 minutes in goal for the Tigers. Grayce Southern played the final 45 minutes and did not face a shot on-goal.

Next up for the Tigers will be the conference opener at home on September 18. Kickoff versus Briar Cliff is set for 5 PM.
