Women's Soccer traveled to Sioux City, Iowa, on Saturday to take on Morningside for the second straight year. All the scoring took place in the second half with the two squads finishing in a 1-1 tie, matching last year's outcome.
The Mustangs out-shot the Tigers, 11-0, in the first half of play. Doane goalkeeper Grayce Southern posted seven saves in the opening 45 minutes.
The Tigers struck early in the second half as Hayle Brodine sent a pass through the Morningside defensive line and McKenna Rathbun was able to fire a shot past the Mustang goalkeeper in the 47' of action. Doane maintained their lead until the 78' when Morningside was awarded a penalty kick attempt that they converted.
Southern finished with eight saves in the game. Doane was held to a pair of shots on-goal for the match.
The Tigers will travel to Fremont on Wednesday, September 25, to take on Midland at 5 PM.
