Women's Soccer wrapped up the regular season on Wednesday night with a home win over Mount Marty. After a scoreless first half, the Tigers scored twice in the second half to post a 2-0 victory. It was the team's third straight shutout and fourth in the last five games.
Doane dominated play throughout the game with the ball in the Lancers defensive end for the majority of the game. The Tigers held a 19-3 shot advantage with shots on-goal at 6-2.
McKenna Rathbun picked up the first goal of the game in the 49' with a cut left against the Lancer defense only to fire a shot in at the right post. The goal was her 10th of the season, making her the first since 2015 to post double-digits in goals scored for the Tigers.
In the 74', Grace Dowding picked up a clearance by Mount Marty and dribbled through the defense nearly 30 yards before firing a shot from 27 yards away. Her shot snuck under the crossbar for her first collegiate goal.
For the game, Virginia Johnson picked up two saves. The game was her fifth shutout of the season, tied for sixth-most in program history for a single season.
Doane will head into the postseason with a road game ahead at Sioux Center, Iowa, on Saturday, November 2. The Tigers will take on Dordt at 2 PM.
