Women's Soccer Ties Dakota Wesleyan in Road Match

MITCHELL, S.D. — In a defensive battle under the lights at Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex, Doane and Dakota Wesleyan played to a 0–0 draw Saturday night in Great Plains Athletic Conference action.

The Tigers (4-5-2, 2-1-1 GPAC) held firm on the road, earning their third shutout of the season behind goalkeeper Virginia Johnson, who recorded three saves across 90 minutes of work. Johnson turned away a pair of second-half shots to preserve the clean sheet, marking her second shutout of the year.

Dakota Wesleyan (2-2-6, 1-1-3 GPAC) managed a 12-4 shot advantage, including seven attempts in the first half with the wind behind their backs, but the Doane back line held steady with strong play from defenders Megan Kennedy, Myridean Lehman, and McKenna Rathbun anchoring the group.

Doane's best scoring chance came in the 20th minute when Brianna-Lynn Ehia forced a save from DWU's keeper. The Tigers added three second-half shots, including looks from Savannah Franzoy and Kailynn Horeis, but couldn't find the finishing touch.

The Tigers return home Wednesday to host Midland at Papik Field.
