
Women's Tennis Rallies in Singles Play to Top Bethany
Women's Tennis hosted Bethany (Kan.) on Thursday afternoon and picked up a 5-2 victory. The Tigers fell behind after doubles play but rallied to pick up their ninth win of the season.
Doane dropped two of the three doubles matches, missing out on the team point. The lone win came at No. 1 where Maria Purizaca and Mariana Espinosa won 6-1.
In singles play, the Tigers won five of the six matches. Purizaca won 6-1, 6-0, over Maria Mistereck at No. 1. Espinosa won in a tie-break, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8), over Ana Sofia Castillo Paz at No. 2 singles. Liz Calderon picked up a 6-2, 6-0, win at No. 3 over Makenna Russom. Isabella Castillero won at No. 4 singles over Karee Adam in a tie-break, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (14-12). At No. 5 singles, Grace Schroller was edged out in a tie-break by Helen Harbit, 6-3, 5-7, 0-1 (9-11). Kat Johnson won at No. 6 over Kelsee Adam, 6-0, 6-1.
Doane will host (RV) Morningside on Sunday, April 6, at 12 PM in Crete.
